Modern Egyptian Fashion: Influence from the Past and International Presence
Christian Dior Egyptian Collection As mentioned in previous posts, Ancient Egyptian fashion has had a large influence on fashion worldwide. Well known designers, such as John Galliano, Christian Dior, Fausto Puglisi, and Alexander McQueen have all gained inspiration from Egyptian motifs and ways of style. These designers have created Egypt-specific collections and also have created pieces with clear use of Egyptian styles. In 2017, a Lebanese designer Elie Saab created pieces that paid homage to Egypt and its history. One piece of his included the city of Domyat with its beautiful palm trees and sailboats in the Nile River. Ancient Egyptians tended to wear very loose clothing that draped over their bodies in a dress-like style for women and a pants-style for men.
